Located on the northern bank of the Thames in London, the Tower fortress has a particular role to play in the history of the Great Britain and England with its capital city London. Over a thousand years, the fortress has been proudly sitting over the surrounding city quarters as a symbol of might and glory of the country.

The oiginal purpose of this outstanding building was to lay a barrier and protect lands overtaken by the Normanns from local populations. Further on, the fortress acquired its individual value as a stronghold. During centures it was used as a prison, first, for high prisoners: kings and members of royal families captured at wars, as well as aristocracy and clergy who fell from grace.
